Data Sources

The Data Sources object contains the name and a few important settings for every source from which your data originates. Each Source represents a mapping from Big Table fields to Salesforce objects and fields. The Source names are entirely up to you, but every Big Table record must have one of your Source names in its “Source” field—this instructs the Import Process which mapping to use when inserting and updating Salesforce records. The Name of the Data Source record and the value in the Big Table Source field must match exactly. Please only use alphanumeric characters.

Click “New Data Source” or click the name of an existing Data Source and then click the “Edit” button to see the this special interface:

Explanation of these controls:

  • Automatically update duplicates: If checked, when a record imported with this source has only 1 duplicate contact, automatically match to and update that record. If this field is not checked, duplicates must be reviewed on the Duplicate Review Screen.
  • Maximum number of duplicate Contacts per Big Table: Enter the maximum number of duplicate Contacts allowed per Big Table record. If more duplicate Contacts are found than the number entered, the Big Table status will changed to Errored. Using large values in this field can result in errors on the Duplicate Review Screen, so this value may be adjusted as needed.
  • Choose contact fields to display on the duplicate review screen: In the lefthand section, type in the fields you wish to display on the duplicate review screen (e.g., First Name, Last Name, etc.). After you hit “Enter,” the field name will automatically be added to the list on the right. You can drag and drop list items to change their order, or delete by clicking the Trash icon. Refer to Fig. 1.2.
