QR Codes for Taking Event Attendance
Overview
When a user registers for an Event, a QR code is generated based on a unique key and this image is attached to the Campaign Member record. The QR code can be included as a merge field in a registration email template. When the QR code is scanned, the CampaignMember’s Status field is automatically updated to "Attended."
Activating QR Code Functionality
To activate the functionality, check the “QR Code Functionality” checkbox on the Custom Setting here:
Note:
You should create a list view named Active Campus Campaign on the Campaigns
tab, displaying all the active Campus Campaigns. Events Rx will redirect to this
list view when you click on the Admin Panel’s icon for "Event Attendance: Scan QR
Codes."
Scanning an Image of a QR Code
Scanning a registrant’s QR code sets their Campaign Member Status to "Attended."
To scan the QR codes for Events:
- From the Salesforce Mobile app for iPhone or Android, navigate to the Campaign for which you wish to take attendance and click the “Mark Attendance” quick action at the bottom of the screen, then click the “Scan QR Code” button. The camera will open for you to scan the code.
- When scanning (photographing) a code, try to capture as large an image as possible of the code — that is, get close up to the code so that the code occupies 75% of the picture area.
- If a code you scan is not for the correct event, the system will display an error telling you what event the code is associated with, so that you can redirect the attendee to that event.
