Automatic Approval Process
High Level Instructions for Creating Your Automatic Approval Processes
- The Assigned Approver (reader) for the first step of an automated process is either a user or a queue.
- The Assigned Approver for the second and subsequent steps of an automated process may be an automatically-assigned user or queue, or may be assigned manually by the previous approver.
- The Entry Criteria for your Automatic Approval Processes can be constructed from any field(s) on the application—typically an Admissions Status value like “Application Complete” or “Review” is used, among others.
- Entry Criteria for subsequent steps can be based on any combination of fields on the Application.
- To insert a manually-assigned step into an automated approval process, make its entry criteria “Application: Assign to next approver equals True”.
- Read the Salesforce Help page on creating Approval Processes. Also, be sure to familiarize yourself with Salesforce’s Considerations for Approval Processes.
Below is a screenshot of an example automatic approval process in which the entry
criteria for the process as a whole are “Admissions Status equals ‘Application
Complete’”. The first step of this process assigns all applications to user “Jim Demo3”.
The second and third steps have entry criteria of “‘Assign to Next Approver’ equals
TRUE”, which makes them accept manual assignment made by the previous reviewer:
